Description
In Genialno (Ingenious), players take turns placing domino-style coloured tiles on the game board and score for each line of coloured symbols they extend. The trick is that a player's score equals their worst colour, not their best, so they need to score in all colours instead of specialising in just one or two.In more detail, the game includes 120 domino-style tiles, each made of two joined hexagons; each hexagon has one of six colours, and most tiles have hexagons of different colours. Each player has a rack of six tiles and on their turn places one tile from their rack on two hexes of the board. For each hexagon on that tile, they score one point in that colour for each hexagon of the same colour adjacent to it and each hexagon in a straight line from it. If a player raises a colour's score to 18, they immediately take another turn. At the end of their turn, players refill their rack to six tiles. (Before refilling their rack, if it contains no tiles with hexes in their lowest colour, they may discard all their tiles and then draw six new tiles from the bag.)When no more tiles can be placed on the board, or when one player reaches 18 points in every colour, the game ends. Players then compare their lowest scores, and whoever has the highest one wins.Genialno includes rules for solitaire and team play; in the latter, two teams of two play, with each player unable to see their partner's tiles, and teams keep a shared score with a maximum of 36 instead of 18.
