The board game Carnegie was inspired by the life of Andrew Carnegie, who was born in Scotland in 1835. Andrew Carnegie and his parents emigrated to the United States in 1848. Although he started his career as a telegraph operator, his role as one of the main players in the rise of the steel industry in the United States of America made him one of the richest people in the world and an icon of the American dream.Andrew Carnegie was also a benefactor and philanthropist; after his death in 1919, more than 350 million dollars of his fortune was bequeathed to various foundations, and a further 30 million dollars went to various charities. His donations created almost 2500 free public libraries that bear his name: the Carnegie libraries.During the game you will hire and manage employees, expand your company, invest in real estate, produce and sell goods and create transport chains across the United States of America; you may even work with important figures of the time. You might even become a famous benefactor who, through your actions and generosity, contributes to the greatness of your country!The game is played over 20 rounds. In each round, the active player chooses one of four actions, which the other players can follow.The goal of the game is to build the most prestigious company, as symbolised by victory points.
