Description
In the party game Panda Spin, your aim is to get rid of all your cards as quickly as possible whilst collecting as much bamboo as possible for your pandas.
This is an interesting party game with a special set of cards, where each card has two different values – depending on which side is facing up. At the start of the game, all cards are face-up with the orange side showing. Each player is dealt 12 cards, whilst the remainder forms the draw pile.
How is the game played?
Players take turns placing cards in a pile. They can play:
- a single card,
- pairs,
- triples,
- straights
- or various combinations, such as two consecutive pairs or two consecutive triples.
The first player in a round may play almost any combination, except for a ‘bomb’ (four or more cards of the same rank). Subsequent players must play the same type of combination but of a higher value, or else pass their turn. Once a player has passed, they may no longer take part in that round.
Turning over cards
If you pass your turn and all your played cards are still on the orange side, you flip them over to the blue side. This changes their value and often their special ability as well.
If you skip a turn and there is already at least one blue card amongst your played cards, you discard all of these cards.
Special Element Cards
When you play an element card, its special power takes effect immediately. For example, Water defeats any combination with a value of 3 or more. If you successfully use an element, you immediately win the trick and draw two new cards from the deck.
End of a trick
The winner of the trick discards their played cards and starts the next trick.
Scoring and victory
When a player runs out of cards, they receive as many bamboo points as the number of cards held by the player with the most cards. When all players except one have run out of cards, the round ends. The cards are then shuffled and dealt for a new round.
The game ends when any player reaches 15 or more bamboo points at the end of a round. The player with the most bamboo points wins.
