Description
The noble families of Chaufort and Cunningfields are feuding once more, this time right on your table or on the living-room floor. In Catapult Feud each player builds a castle from plastic bricks and places five soldiers on it. Then they use a small rubber-band catapult to launch rubber boulders at the opponent's fortress, trying to knock over all of their soldiers.
How to play Catapult Feud
The two players sit on opposite sides of a table or, even better, on the floor, about one and a half metres apart. Each uses all of their bricks to build their castle and places their soldiers on the bricks or on the player board. At the start, each player has four boulders and three action cards.
A turn has four steps: first you may play an action card, then you turn or move your catapult, fire a boulder and finally clean up. A soldier that falls over or merely tilts is out, and its owner draws a new card for every soldier lost. The game ends when one player has no soldiers left standing.
Why you'll love it
- You build your castle your own way: stack and pile the bricks however you like, as long as they lie flat. So every game starts with a different fortress.
- The shooting is for real. The boulder flies across the room, and a good hit brings down a whole wall along with the soldiers on it.
- Action cards bring twists: one lets you use your opponent's catapult for a round, another gives you two shots in a row, a third moves three soldiers to a safer spot.
- You draw a new card for every soldier you lose, so the player who is behind gets more chances to come back.
Who is Catapult Feud for
Catapult Feud is a game for two players aged 7 and up, and a game takes 20 to 30 minutes. The rules are simple and fit on just two pages, which makes it a great choice for parents and children, brothers and sisters, or friends who enjoy dexterity games. The Slovenian edition comes with Slovenian rules.
What you might not like
You need some space to play, as the castles stand about one and a half metres apart. Since it is for two players only, it may not suit those looking for a game for a larger group, or those who prefer calmer games without dexterity.
