Description
What do the strange symbols on the map mean? They are codes for the locations where field operatives meet secret agents. In Codenames - Pictures you split into two teams. The two spymasters know the secret identity of all 20 pictures on the table, and your job is to work out their clues - before you meet an opposing agent or the assassin by mistake.
How to play Codenames - Pictures
The spymaster gives one clue: one word and a number that says how many pictures it relates to - for example “evolution: 2”. The field operatives talk it over and touch a picture. If it is an agent of your colour, you keep guessing; on an innocent bystander or an opposing agent, the turn passes to the other team. Whoever points to the assassin loses immediately.
The first team to find all of its agents wins. Because each time you may make one more guess than the number in the clue, you can catch up on pictures you missed on earlier clues.
Why you will love it
- The pictures are full of detail, so one clue can mean very different things - and that is exactly what the team has the most fun arguing about.
- The spymaster has to keep a straight face while the teammates feel their way towards the wrong picture.
- The “Where is the assassin?” variant for experienced players: you only win once you have found the assassin as well.
- You can combine the game with the base game Codenames and play with pictures and words at the same time.
Who is Codenames - Pictures for
The game is for 2 to 8 players aged 10 and up, and it works best with 6 players. For the standard game you need at least 4 players, and the rules also include variants for 2 and 3 players. A game takes about 15 minutes. Because you guess pictures, the game is easier for younger players than the classic Codenames - a great choice for families and groups of friends. Players who do not like guessing in a group will enjoy it less.
