Description
Do we really have free will? Who decides this? Are we being influenced by what we hear and see, whilst thinking we are making our own free choices? Insider is a party game that explores these questions. Whilst communicating with others, you must find the correct answers to the quiz or uncover the ‘insider’ who is steering the discussion. The insider will do everything in their power to conceal their identity and mislead the others.
Players are assigned their roles at random. One player is the ‘Master’ and secretly chooses a word from a pile of cards. (In the version described in the rules, they may choose any word they like and write it down.) The player in the role of the ‘insider’, whose identity is unknown to the others, then secretly looks at the chosen word. The other players are ‘ordinary players’. The ordinary players then have about five minutes to ask the Master questions that can be answered with ‘yes’ or ‘no’, in order to guess the secret word. The Insider tries to secretly guide the ordinary players towards the correct word. If the ordinary players fail to guess the correct word, everyone loses.
However, if the players correctly guess the word within the allotted time, the host turns over the hourglass. The ordinary players and the host then have until the hourglass runs out to discuss the course of the game and reveal the Insider’s identity. If they successfully reveal the insider’s identity, they all win; if they fail, the insider wins.
