Description
Jenga is the classic game of skill with 54 wooden blocks. You stack them into a tower, then take turns pulling out one block at a time and placing it on top. The tower gets taller and ever more full of holes underneath – until it falls. The game's name comes from the Swahili word for "to build".
How to play Jenga
Build the tower in layers of three blocks, turning each layer crosswise to the one below. The loading sleeve helps you with this. On your turn, use one hand to take a block from any layer below the highest complete layer and place it on top. You may tap the blocks to find a loose one. On top, always complete a layer before starting a new one.
Your turn ends five seconds after you place your block, or when the next player touches the tower. Whoever knocks the tower over is out. The winner is the last player to place a block without the tower falling.
Why you'll love it
- Every move is a small puzzle: which block is loose enough to pull out without the tower wobbling?
- You may test the blocks before you decide – but always with one hand only, so a steady hand counts.
- The tower grows with every move while it has less and less support underneath, so the tension peaks towards the end.
- You can also play alone: try to build a taller tower than last time.
Who is Jenga for
The game is suitable from age 6. It can be played by 1 to 8 players and is at its best with four. A game takes about 20 minutes. The rules are very simple, which makes Jenga perfect for family get-togethers, parties and anyone just getting to know board games.
Anyone looking for a game with planning and long-term decisions will miss the depth here – Jenga is a game of skill and nerves, not strategy.
