Description
Dobble Catan brings fast symbol spotting to the famous island. Any two cards share exactly one matching symbol, but this time the cards don't sit in a pile: you use them to build the island of Catan and then lay cards of your colour on it. Familiar motifs such as the sheep, the brick, the robber and the knight are all here.
How to play Dobble Catan
Split into two or three teams of one or two players each. Everyone plays at the same time: you turn over the top card of your pile, find the symbol it shares with one of the cards on the island, call it out loud and place your card on top. A mini-game ends when the first team has played all of its cards.
Each of the five mini-games has a different goal: the most visible cards of your colour, the most harbours reached, the longest road or the most cards collected. Winning a mini-game earns you points, and the game is won by the first team to collect ten points.
Why you'll love it
- Being fast isn't enough: it also matters which card on the island you cover, as that is how you build your own road or block someone else's.
- Five mini-games with Catan themes, from harbours and the longest road to barbarians and knights.
- You play in teams, so you can help your teammate once you've played all your own cards.
- To start, you pick a single mini-game; later you play all five in a row.
Who is Dobble Catan for
The game is for 2 to 6 players aged 8 and up, and a game lasts about 15 minutes. It is simple and there is no text on the components. It will appeal to families who know Dobble and want a bit more tactics, and to fans of Catan, who will recognise the symbols.

What you might not like
You call out the symbols and everyone plays at the same time, so the game may not be the best fit for those who prefer calmer games with more time to think.
