Description
In Monopoly F1 you pick one of 11 Formula 1 teams and drive your car around the board you know from classic Monopoly. Only instead of streets, you buy races all over the world, from Monza to Silverstone. The first to land on a race can buy it and become its leader. Keeping the lead isn't easy, though: every rival who lands on your race challenges you to a dice duel. Meanwhile, in the middle of the board, the Monopoly Grand Prix is under way, where your helmet races against your rivals' helmets.
How to play Monopoly F1
On your turn you roll both dice and move your car. You can buy a free race from the bank. On a rival's race you don't pay rent – you challenge them instead: each of you rolls a die and the higher roll wins. If you win, you take their race card; if you lose, you pay them a fee. Every time you reach Go, you stop, take 20 points and move your helmet along the Grand Prix track with both dice.
The game ends when the first helmet crosses the finish line. That player wins the Drivers' Championship. Then everyone adds up the points for their race cards, doubled for a full colour set, and whoever has the most points also wins the Constructors' Championship.
Why you'll love it
- There are two ways to win: with a fast helmet on the Grand Prix track or by collecting races and points. The best player wins both titles.
- Each team has its own special ability, triggered by rolling »F1« on the special die. With Aston Martin, for example, you move up to 3 spaces further.
- You fit your car with tyres from a deck of cards: with soft, hard or wet tyres you're faster on the parts of the track that suit them.
- Once you collect all the races of one colour, your rivals can no longer take any of them, and you receive a double fee.
Who is Monopoly F1 for
The game is for 2 to 6 players aged 8 and up, and a game takes about 45 minutes. The rules are simple: if you know classic Monopoly, you can start playing right away. It's the right choice for families and Formula 1 fans who want a Monopoly with more duels and racing. Dice decide most duels and moves, so it's not for those looking for a demanding strategy game.
