Description
In the game SET, each card contains between 1 and 3 symbols, with all the symbols on a single card being the same colour, shape and pattern (e.g. two purple dotted ovals). The colours, shapes and fill patterns come in three different variations: green, purple and red; oval, diamond and wavy; and solid, dotted and empty (outlined).
All players compete simultaneously and try to collect sets of cards in a single pass through the pile. A set consists of three cards which, in each individual attribute, are either completely identical or completely different. For example: if all three cards have the same number of symbols but three different shapes, fills and colours, these cards form a set. If two cards share a characteristic that the third does not have, this is not a set.
The game begins with one of the players dealing twenty cards face up. The first player to spot a set takes those three cards. If they are mistaken, they may not look for another set until another player finds one. When someone collects a set, the dealer places three new cards on the table. (If all players agree that there is no sequence on the table, the dealer adds three new cards; these cards are not replaced later when someone collects a sequence. The player who collects the most sequences wins!
