The rules are simple, but the decisions are tough.Hikers score only if they are on a path of four consecutive numbers. Do you join an opponent's path to merge, or block their path with your own? Do you give up a safe location to bring your hikers together for the perfect spot on the next switchback? Will that spot even be available on the next switchback?We fell in love with these elegant dilemmas, and so will you!In the board game Switchbacks, players place tiles numbered from 1 to 37 in a hexagonal grid. When they place a tile, they can also place one of their tokens on it. At the end of the game, players check whether there are groups of tiles with consecutive numbers on the board, so that a consecutive path can be followed; all players' tokens on those tiles are worth points. The player with the most points wins.
