Description
In Spectacular, you create and develop your own wildlife park for vulnerable species. To preserve a species, you must ensure breeding within each habitat.During the game, you choose animal tiles and dice, with the dice representing food for the animals. The colour of the dice must match the habitat colour of the animal tiles. Every turn requires a key decision about whether to secure a die of a certain value or an animal tile that may no longer be available. At the end of the game, for each area of connected tiles of the same habitat, you score points for the sum of your dice of that colour. However, points are only awarded if dice with values of 1 or 2 are placed on certain "family" tiles in the habitat! During the game you will also build watchtowers, which earn you points for all three dice next to them. To make your park even more spectacular, also try to collect as many different species as possible, with more points awarded for greater diversity. Finally, the player with the most points wins. After a few games, you can expand the game by playing with three (out of 18) mission tiles. Although they offer the chance of a higher score, they also raise the difficulty of the puzzle.Spectacular provides simultaneous play and player interaction, as your opponents' decisions will affect which tiles and dice are available to you. The game also has asymmetric player boards (on their backs).Spectacular offers simple rules, quick setup, short playing time and engaging puzzles and can be played by 1 to 6 players with little downtime, even at higher player counts.
